Where to start
Section titled “Where to start”If this is your first time, follow the Quickstart: it installs EpistulaMail, connects your account and shows the search. If you already use it, the Documentation covers each feature in detail, with what happens behind the scenes and where your data lives.
Everything here applies to Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). For now, only Gmail accounts can connect; other providers are coming soon. Opening old email archives works with no account at all.
What EpistulaMail is
Section titled “What EpistulaMail is”- Yours, with no catch. There is no EpistulaMail account, no EpistulaMail cloud and no telemetry. No email goes through a server of ours.
- Encrypted on disk. Messages live in a database encrypted with AES-256, with the key in the Windows Credential Manager.
- Works offline. What has been downloaded opens and can be searched without internet.
- Open source. Everything is on GitHub.
